this is my latest tank. it has been running for 12 weeks. I left it to cycle for 5 weeks with just live rock and live sand. then I started adding the livestock slowly slowly. till now I have a tank fully crammed with Live rock and other inert rocks (hoping for it to be seeded). I have around 4 KG of Live rock of which 1.5KG is Fiji Rock.
some help would be appreciated in recognising actual names of corals and the blue damsel which I forgot the name of. what i know i have is:
green zoanthids buttons; blue legged hermit crab Clib anarius tricolor(this should be it's scientific name); maroon yellow striped clown Premnas biaculeatus domino damsel Clib anarius tricolor chromis Chromis viridis
le king this was my small secretr project... the big one is still coming on its way... and yes it will be a big reef... most probably was thinking of doing like a patch reef with mainly anenonies (WOW that would be the day...) and for that I started a marine tank from now so for the water to mature... as time goes along i will start increasing the volume slowly slowly untill i reach the needed volume of the big tank....
also an other thing... there is no real attempt at aquascaping here... all I am up to for now is cycling and getting a system up and running in preparation fro the big one...
I noticed that you have Aptasia in the tank. Aptasia is a coral that will sting to death any other coral. If there is one is not a problem if you remove it, but normally when you see one the propability is that you have more. The reason to this is because they multiple very quickly. It is in the 8 th picture, under the blue damsel.
yes i know... I had one and suddenly they became more... but somehow now they slowed down... at one point I had a lot more... I do not know hot to remove them... what I found on the net was to use a copperband butterflyfish since it seems that it is a delicacy for this fish...
Hi nice set-up coming along! About tha aiptasia the copper band will not solve it (they most probably won't even touch it and are very hard fish to keep alive). It's best to inject boiling water into the individual anemonies and they will fall off. You can also try Joe's Juice to remove them (but not everyone has success with it).
